Non-Surgical Nose Job
Did you know there are alternatives to a traditional surgical nose job (rhinoplasty) for achieving a refined and well-defined nose? At MD Skin Lab, we want to introduce you to the liquid rhinoplasty, also known as a non-surgical nose job. This approach offers a minimally invasive procedure that yields favourable and rapid results. Our highly skilled physician injectors specialize in enhancing the aesthetic appeal of your nose without the need for surgery.
Several factors can influence an individual's decision to undergo a non-surgical nose job. This includes concerns such as smoothing bumps, lifting the nasal tip, achieving a more symmetrical appearance, and correcting irregularities. Additionally, avoiding the substantial costs associated with surgical rhinoplasty is another compelling reason individuals choose this non-invasive option.
In addition to their rigorous medical training, our doctors at MD Skin Lab have completed the Aesthetic Intelligence Advanced Filler Fellowship training focusing on the non-surgical nose job with the world-renowned plastic surgeon and non-surgical nose job guru Dr. Ayad Harb.
A Non-Surgical Nose Job Explained
What is a Non-Surgical Nose Job?
A non-surgical nose job, also known as liquid rhinoplasty, is a popular cosmetic procedure that offers a compelling alternative to traditional rhinoplasty. This non-invasive approach involves injectable dermal fillers to reshape and lift the nose, resulting in a more defined and contoured appearance. Unlike the surgical route of traditional rhinoplasty, which involves altering the nose through cutting and modifying cartilage and bone, liquid rhinoplasty offers a shorter recovery period, quicker procedure time and long-lasting results.
MD Skin Lab uses dermal fillers composed of hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance in the human body. Hyaluronic acid is injected to contour the nose and restore volume to the skin. There are many different dermal fillers on the market; however, at MD Skin Lab, we treat our patients with temporary fillers, including Restylane®, Teosyal®, Juvederm®, Stylage®, and Prollenium®, which are all hyaluronic acid-based dermal fillers. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring sugar molecule in the body that gives skin the desired plumpness, smoothness and youthfulness.
What Will Occur During A Non-Surgical Nose Job Appointment?
When you arrive at MD Skin Lab, one of our physicians, Dr. Soreya Dhanji or Dr. Vishaal Govan, will greet you at the front. You will then be taken to the appointment room for a consultation, where your physician will discuss the procedure with you to determine if a non-surgical nose job is right for you. Your physician will also consider factors such as your medical history and allergies.
Once you have been cleared for a non-surgical nose job and have decided to proceed, your physician will apply topical numbing cream to the injection site. This ensures your comfort throughout the procedure. Using a fine needle, the filler will be precisely injected into the targeted areas of the nose. Your physician may also perform gentle massage techniques to ensure smooth distribution of the filler, minimizing the risk of any unevenness or bumps. If a further enhancement is desired, the additional filler may be administered accordingly.
Following the procedure, your physician will provide detailed aftercare instructions to optimize your recovery and maintain the desired results. It is essential to follow these instructions diligently to promote proper healing and achieve optimal outcomes. A follow-up appointment will also be scheduled to assess your progress and address any further concerns or adjustments if necessary.
Who Is It For And Am I A Candidate?
The treatment is an excellent choice for any individual who would like to enhance the look of their nose without pursuing traditional rhinoplasty.
You are the right candidate if you want to correct nasal asymmetry, have a nasal bump, lift the tip, or want the nose to appear straighter. Patients with previous rhinoplasty, nasal surgery, or significant nasal trauma are not good candidates. We highly recommend consulting our physicians to determine if the treatment is right for you.
How Does A Non-Surgical Nose Job Work?
Your physician uses injectable fillers to perform the non-surgical nose job. The fillers allow the nose's shape to be contoured to achieve desired results. Once your physician has injected the filler, the treatment area may be massaged, which helps ensure it is evenly distributed and allows any bumps to be smoothed out.
What Nose Concerns Can Be Treated With A Non-Surgical Nose Job?
Your physician injector can treat the following:
- Correct asymmetry
- Smooth-out dorsal hump
- Refine nasal tip
- Lift nasal tip
Is A Non-Surgical Nose Job Safe?
A non-surgical nose job is a safe procedure. However, it is considered a higher-risk area. With that said, using an experienced physician injector to perform the treatment is crucial. Our physician injectors at MD Skin Lab specialize in advanced nose injection techniques. Dr. Vishaal Govan and Dr. Soreya Dhanji are trained in Dr. Ayad Harb’s 3-point nose job technique and have completed their Advanced Filler Training, making them highly qualified.
How Long Will A Non-Surgical Nose Job Appointment Take?
A non-surgical nose job appointment can take between 30-60 minutes, depending on the extent of the treatment.
What Does A Non-Surgical Nose Job Feel Like?
The procedure involves using a small needle which will be injected into the area of concern. The sensations that may be encountered include some pressure applied to the nose or a subtle pinch. Your physician will apply a topical anesthetic before starting the treatment to help ensure that you are comfortable. Additionally, the filler also contains lidocaine mixed with it which helps with discomfort. The entire treatment of liquid rhinoplasty is minimally invasive and requires much less recovery time than traditional rhinoplasty.
What Is The Downtime After A Non-Surgical Nose Job?
After your non-surgical nose job, you can proceed with your day-to-day activities. However, we recommend avoiding working out or intense activities for at least 48 hours so that further swelling doesn't develop. You will also want to avoid anything that thins the blood for 24 hours post-treatment, including anti-inflammatories, alcohol and omega-3, as it can increase the chances of bruising and swelling. Next, avoid anything that puts pressure on the nose for at least 2 weeks, including wearing glasses that rest on the treated area. Lastly, avoid dental appointments for at least 2 weeks after the treatment. The treatment can leave some mild swelling or general discomfort in the injection site, which is entirely normal. Your physician will be providing you with aftercare measures.

How Many Appointments Will I Need And When Will I See The Results?
The number of appointments required for a non-surgical nose job can vary depending on individual factors such as your specific goals, the type of dermal filler used, and the extent of correction needed. While one appointment is typically sufficient for most patients, it is essential to consider that every nose is unique in bone structure and skin type.
During your initial consultation, your physician will carefully assess your nose and discuss your desired outcomes. These factors will provide a more accurate estimation of the number of appointments needed to achieve your desired results. It is common for touch-up appointments, particularly as the effects of the dermal fillers gradually wear off over time. The rate at which the fillers metabolize can vary among individuals, so periodic touch-ups can help maintain the desired outcome. Your physician will guide you through the process, ensuring that you achieve the best possible results and addressing any concerns.
Results vary for each patient; however, the turnaround time is relatively quick after the treatment. Since there are some minor and temporary side effects, it is best to allow some time for them to fade away, allowing for more apparent results to be visible. Full results can be expected after 2-4 weeks as the dermal fillers settle into place.
Dermal fillers in the nose generally last 9-12 months and sometimes longer. To maintain the overall appearance of the nose, we recommend touch-ups.
Please note that non-surgical nose jobs are temporary and can be long-lasting but must be repeated, or the nose will eventually return to its original state as the dermal filler slowly metabolizes.
Will I Experience Any Side Effects?
As with most cosmetic procedures, there are potential side effects associated with a non-surgical nose job. Temporary side effects can include pain, swelling, bruising, redness, and in rare cases, the risk of infection. However, these side effects will subside within a few days to a week. Another rare side effect can be vascular occlusion, as the nose is a higher-risk area to inject. With our trained physician injectors, safety is of utmost importance. Your physician will provide you with the appropriate aftercare instructions to ensure a smooth recovery. Following these guidelines will help minimize any potential discomfort and promote healing. Prior to the procedure, your physician will assess your suitability for the treatment. This step is crucial in ensuring that the procedure is safe and suitable for you.
